The Djed pillar

The pillar Djed is a sort of prehistoric fetish representing a tree ébranché. It played a role in agricultural rituals. The raising of the Djed pillar, accomplished by the king in favor of Ptah is a ceremony several times millennium. The association of Ptah in Sokaris, then Sokaris in Osiris made a osirien symbol of it.  Homophone of the word meaning length, it served models to innumerable amulets. On the walls of the room, the most known scenes represent the Djed pillar and its raising.

King Sety raises the Djed pillar with the help of Isis. The king's small representation helps towards this maneuver.

The king offers cloth to the Djed pillar that is already dressed. The pillar possesses two eyes and wears two high feathers.
