Kamose would have reigned 3 years.  At his death, his brother or nephew Ahmose only has some years and it is his mother Ahhotep who assured a sort of co-regency (Vernus, Yoyotte 1998). The name of Ahmose is the Greek transcription of Iahmes "The moon is put to the world." He reigned from -1539 to -1514.

At the advent of Ahmose, the Delta and the north of Egypt up to Cusae were under the check of the Hyksos and the king of Kush represented a threat in the south of Egypt. The campaigns against the Hyksos seem to end toward the 22nd year of his reign (Harvey,1998). After his campaign, Ahmose can dedicate himself to his country: reopening of mines, exchanges with Byblos, important activity of constructions.  At the end of his reign, Egypt recovered its traditional borders.

In Abydos, he had constructed a pyramid and its temple, a chapel dedicated to his grandmother Tetisheri, an underground tomb (or cenotaph) and the foundations of a structure in terrace in the cliff (Harvey, 1998). This set was searched by Petrie in the beginning of the XXth century. These excavations have been resumed in 1993 and 1995 by the university of Pennsylvania (cf. Harvey, 1998 of which the information of this page are largely drawn).

Ahmose constructed to a scale without precedent in Abydos since the Middle Kingdom. The complex of Senwosret III, very near provides him a model probably for his own constructions. Such a set, pyramid more mortuary temple was constructed never again thereafter. The pyramid probably had a basis of the order of 50 meters, according to the quantity of remnant. Was bound it a funeral temple, set duplicating the features of the royal cult of source memphite.

In 1902, Currelly discovered a brick structure of 21 by 23 meters. Some bricks were registered with the sentence "Nebpehtyre, beloved of Osiris" confirming that the construction dated of the reign of Ahmose. At the end of a long hall, he found a stele in top of which one saw Ahmose making some offerings to Tetisheri. On this stele, now to the museum of Cairo, the king explains why he wants to build to his grandmother a chapel close to his own monuments to return her homage.
